Pool Surface

Plaster, quartz, pebble and tile interiors, chosen for how your family actually swims and built to stand up to Florida sun.

Your pool’s interior surface is the part everyone sees and feels every time they get in the water. In Central Florida it also works harder than almost anywhere else: we swim nearly year-round, the UV is intense, and the water chemistry never gets a winter break. Sooner or later even a well-kept finish turns rough, stained, etched or chalky.

Resurfacing is the single most popular project we do, and it’s usually the one that makes homeowners fall back in love with their backyard. We don’t just quote the cheapest line on the sheet. We bring samples to your pool, talk through how the finish will look, feel and age, and help you pick the one that fits.

Signs your pool is ready for a new surface

  • The floor and walls feel rough or sandpapery on feet and hands
  • Gray, brown or rust staining that brushing won’t remove
  • Uneven, faded or blotchy color
  • Small cracks, pitting, etching or hollow-sounding spots
  • You’re using more chemicals than you used to just to keep the water balanced

Any one of these usually means the surface has reached the end of its useful life. Putting it off rarely saves money. The damage spreads and the eventual job gets bigger.

Four questions that pick your finish

What look do you want? Bright classic blue, deep lagoon, or something with sparkle.

How should it feel underfoot? Silky-smooth for little kids, or textured and natural.

How much upkeep are you comfortable with? Some finishes forgive chemistry mistakes better than others.

How long until you want to do this again? Spending more up front usually buys more years.

Classic white plaster (marcite)

White marcite is a blend of white cement and crushed marble. It’s still the most common pool finish, and it’s the one behind the light-blue water most people picture. It’s smooth, it’s clean, and it’s the most affordable way to bring a tired pool back. Because it’s cement-based, plaster is the most sensitive to water balance. Keep the chemistry steady and it rewards you with years of good looks.

Quartz finishes

Quartz finishes mix crushed quartz into the cement. You get more color depth and a harder, more stain- and scratch-resistant surface than plain plaster, while it still feels smooth on bare feet. It’s our most common recommendation for families who use the pool every day and want an upgrade that lasts.

Pebble and exposed aggregate

Pebble finishes expose small natural stones for a textured, resort-style surface. They’re among the longest-lasting finishes available and look great next to rock waterfalls, boulders and tropical landscaping. Not all pebble feels the same. Mini-pebble and polished blends are much smoother than standard pebble, so if young kids or grandparents swim often, we’ll have you feel samples before you choose.

Colored and specialty finishes

Colored plaster adds pigment for a custom water tone at a modest cost. Some colors can soften with sun and chemicals over the years. Glass-bead and polished-aggregate blends sit at the top of the range and add a sparkle that really shows in Florida sunlight.

How your finish changes the water color

Water color comes from the finish, the pool’s depth, how much sun it gets and what surrounds it. Light finishes give bright, tropical blue. Darker and earth-tone finishes push toward deep blue, blue-gray or lagoon green. The same finish looks different in a full-sun Orlando yard than under a shaded screen enclosure, so we show samples wet and dry, in your own light.

How we do it

  1. Inspect & diagnoseWe check the shell, plumbing and equipment first. Leaks and cracks are repaired before any new finish goes on.
  2. Drain & prepWe drain the pool, remove the failing surface down to sound material, protect fittings, then acid-wash and neutralize the shell for a strong bond.
  3. Apply your finishOur crew applies the plaster, quartz or pebble you picked, with any waterline tile done in the same project.
  4. Fill & start-upWe refill and run a careful start-up: brushing and balancing the water through the critical first weeks of curing.
  5. Walk-throughWe go over the finished pool with you and explain the simple care that keeps it looking new.

Frequently asked questions

How long until we can swim again?

Usually 1–2 weeks after the new finish is applied, once start-up is complete and the water is balanced.

Does resurfacing fix a leak?

Not by itself. We find and repair leaks first, then resurface, so you’re not covering up a problem.

How long does a new finish last?

Roughly 7–10 years for plaster and 15–20+ for pebble and premium aggregates, depending on water care.

Which finish is best for kids?

Smooth plaster or quartz, or a mini/polished pebble if you want more durability. We’ll let you feel the samples.

Can I change the color of my pool?

Yes. Resurfacing is the perfect time to change your water color, from bright blue to deep lagoon.

Will my water chemistry matter after?

A lot. Balanced water is the biggest factor in how long any finish lasts. Our weekly service can take that off your plate.
